Died: November 25, 2018 (aged 84) Birth place: Tokyo, Japan Akira Miyazaki was a director and screenwriter for film and television. He is a graduate of Tokyo Metropolitan Kitazono High School and the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies. Upon graduation, he began working at the Ofuna studio of film production company Shochiku. Miyazaki made his directorial debut in 1971 for the film Naitetamaruka. In 1977, he began writing animation scripts after he was introduced to director Masaharu Endou, who led production on Araiguma Rascal with Miyazaki's acquaintance Hiroshi Saitou. He died in 2018 of bile duct cancer at the age of 84.
