Born in Tokyo, Japan, Higuchi Shinji started out as one of the four founders of Daicon Films (now Gainax) and has since then been the writer, assistant director, and art director/storyboarder for Gainax' legendary Neon Genesis Evangelion (being also the namesake for the series' protagonist Ikari Shinji).
