FAKE TYPE. is a group formed in August 2013 in Tokyo, Japan by track composer/rapper DYES IWASAKI and trackmaker/rapper TOPHAMHAT-KYO. Their style of music centers around dance music, mainly focusing on “pop” and “crazy.” However, they use lots of inspiration from genres such as rap, hip-hop and Electro swing. They are perhaps best known for their stylish and well-animated music videos, often starring the morally gray Battle Couple of Baron Ham (representing KYO) and Ms. Iwasake (representing DYES) as they get caught up in a variety of odd situations at the turn of the 20th century, from hunting monsters to searching for desert treasure. On April 1st, 2017, the group announced an official hiatus in order to focus on their respective careers, yet still did occasional collaborations outside of FAKE TYPE during this period.
