Her father is of mixed Spanish-Portuguese-Chinese descent, which is why she also has Taiwanese citizenship as her parents once lived in Taiwan. Her mother is Japanese from Osaka. She was originally an extremely shy girl who was even afraid to read aloud from her textbook in school, until a friend invited her to join the drama club in high school and Han was eventually not only able to overcome her shyness but also became fully committed to developing her acting career. Han is an avid astrology enthusiast. She has co-authored a number of astrology books with a famous Japanese astrologer and has written a horoscope column for several anime magazines, including Gundam Ace, from the perspective of her iconic character Lalah Sune. She is the mother of the voice actress Megumi Han.
